As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham United attacker Marko Arnautovic during this summer’s transfer window.
What’s the story?
After a disappointing, and trophy-less, season, Jose Mourinho needs to get recruitment right ahead of next season or risks falling further behind their rivals at home and abroad.
Part of that strategy will be signing the best talent available in the English Premier League itself, without the risk or worry of wondering whether they can adapt to football in the country.
One name on their radar is West Ham United stand-out Marko Arnautovic, according to Sky Sports.
The outlet reckon that the Hammers value him at £50m, double what they paid for him last summer from Stoke City.
Sky say Man United boss Mourinho was in the stands to watch Arnautovic in action for Austria on Wednesday night, beating Russia 1-0 thanks to an assist from his former Inter Milan player.

Would he be a good signing?
Having been linked with names like Gareth Bale recently, Manchester United fans could be forgiven for thinking that making a move for Arnautovic would be seen as something of a downgrade. He wouldn’t be the most glamorous of summer arrivals.
What the 29-year-old offers though is effective, determined and passion filled displays, when he is at his best.
Scoring 11 goals and assisting six times for a struggling West Ham side last season, he was instrumental in dragging them forward in their fight against relegation, showing the kind of character and leadership that this Man United team currently lacks, even though they have plenty of star talent.
With 33 goals and 33 assists in 156 Premier League appearances, United could certainly do a lot worse and while the reported £50m valuation is steep, negotiating that to a more reasonable level could see the Red Devils make a shrewd signing this summer.
