Liverpool have been pretty good in the transfer market as of late. Signings like Xherdan Shaqiri, Mohamed Salaah and Andy Robertson, though raising initial question marks, have proven to be shrewd acquisitions, with the Reds improving their side dramatically in recent years.
However, their latest transfer target doesn’t appear to be all that popular amongst fans. According to the Express, Liverpool are interested in landing Hoffenheim’s Kerem Demirbay – a creative and robust attacking midfielder with bags of energy and quality.
We asked fans whether this is a move they’d like to see, and it’s evident that he’s not too popular at present. In response, just 29% of those polled have voted in favour of a move, whilst a whopping 71% of those polled have voted against a potential deal.
There are a few reasons why many fans might be hesitant.
Firstly, he’s unproven in the Premier League, and though he’s had a decent time over in Germany, he’s certainly not been one of the Bundesliga’s best players.
There is also the prospect of what is already in the Liverpool squad. With Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, among several others, the Reds aren’t lacking central midfield depth – and so perhaps some fans view their needs as more necessary elsewhere.
Either way, it’s clear that Liverpool have a bit of a controversial deal, at least considering the opinions of some fans, on their hands should they decide to pursue Demirbay.
Thoughts?
