A day after reportedly agreeing personal terms with City, the Lyon star has suggested a move to the Etihad is drawing closer. The 21-year-old said this shortly after France's 5-4 Nations League semi-final loss to Spain, where he came off the bench and scored a goal and bagged an assist on Thursday.

He told Telefoot, via Fabrizio Romano: "Yes… it’s getting done. But you already know my answer, everybody knows. But there's still a game to play. Now we have to enjoy and give everything, but after it will be done."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Cherki is said to have a £25 million ($34m) release clause in his Lyon contract, which expires in 2026. And going by his performances this season, where he scored 12 goals and added 20 assists, he could be a bargain buy for Pep Guardiola's side.

It may just be a matter of time before Cherki, who is predominantly a right winger but has also played as an attacking midfielder on multiple occasions this season, completes his move to City ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Before then, he could feature for France against Germany in the Nations League on Sunday.
