He could add only 8 runs tohis individual score as he was caught by Sarajeet Singh off M.V.Rao at280. Then Amarjit Kaypee joined the othernight batsman Parender Sharma(53) who completed his half century with the help of six hits to thefence before he was caught by Sarabjeet Singh off Pankaj Maitry withthe total at 330.After the departure of skipper Parander Sharma, Rajesh Puri joinedKaypee and the two raised a 172 run fouth wicket stand before he fellto Maitrey, caught by Harish Bhaskar. They carried the the total to502 for six. Puri contributed 87 runs with seven boundaries and threesixes in his 87 minutes at the crease facing just 80 balls.However, Kaypee, who has the distinction of scoring the maximum runsin the national championship, completed his 27th century while playingthe 158th innings of his 107th Ranji match and remained not out at108. He hit 10 boundaries in 150 minutes batting facing 120 ballsbefore Parender Sharma declared the innings at the fall of Puri’swicket. Pankaj Maitrey took two wickets for 108 runs while M.V.Rao andSachin Kulkarni shared a wicket each.In reply, Services began their first essay disastrously, losing HarishBhaskar (0) for two and then sliding to 21 for four. Only four of thebatsmen could reach double figures, with K.K Dixit (36) top scoring asFeroz Ghyas (5 for 39) and Vineet Jain (3 for 32) ran through theirbatting line up. Pradeep Jain and Sanjay Jakhar also shared a wicketeach.Ghyas struck again in the visitor’s second innings, removing K K Dixitfor a duck at ten before they reached 31 without any more damage.
