Manuel Almunia and Nicklas Bendtner have both been omitted from the Arsenal squad to travel to Asia for pre-season games in China and Malaysia, and a club spokesman has confirmed that the pair are in negotiations with unnamed clubs over potential transfers.
The Spanish goalkeeper lost his place as Arsene Wenger’s number one in 2010/11, as the French manager selected Wojciech Szczesny on a regular basis instead of the former Celta Vigo stopper. A move back to his homeland may be on the cards, however Premier League clubs may also be monitoring the situation as Almunia’s fee is likely to be relatively affordable.
The Dane also found first team opportunities limited last term, and The Guardian has stipulated that the 23-year-old is in talks with Benfica over a potential move to the Estadio da Luz. Additionally, he has been linked with a move to German duo Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund this summer, and any fee would be in the £10 million range.
Meanwhile Lille forward Gervinho has not completed his move to the Emirates in time to join his new team-mates on the tour, but Manchester United target Samir Nasri has travelled with the squad despite his future still being up in the air.
