Sir Trevor Brooking has reiterated that there have been no further developments regarding the appointment of a new England manager, and that the FA will leave it until the end of the season to name Fabio Capello’s successor.
Harry Redknapp is the bookmakers’ favourite to lead the nation to Euro 2012, however Brooking has stated that the timing of the appointment will be crucial.
“There’s naturally a sensitivity whenever you talk about who might take over so I think we gave a clear steer,” he told Sky Sports.
“We decided we would wait until later in the season and let matters take its course during that spell. Really nothing has changed.
“We’re looking until the back end of the season and hopefully let’s see what emerges then.
“I’m never going to get involved in individuals. It’s always quite interesting to see everyone’s suggestion, but it won’t make a difference.
“Naturally we know all the facts about individuals. To talk about an individual is unfair. Let everyone get on with the sensitivity within their clubs currently and we’ll see at the end of the season.
“I think the latter part of the season is the right time to resolve the issue on the senior coach and I don’t think in the next few weeks anything is likely to change that.
“There’s no timescale. That’s it and that’s how it’s been for quite a while. I’m pretty sure that’s how it will stay,” he concluded.
