Manchester City will need to offer up to £130m if they want to persuade Tottenham Hotspur to sell Harry Kane, according to Steve Howey.
Prior to captaining England to the Euro 2020 final, Kane confirmed he wants to leave Spurs in favour of challenging for silverware on a regular basis.
Kane’s comments resulted in City keeping a close eye on proceedings and mulling over whether to make a move for last season’s Premier League’s top goalscorer.
The Premier League champions reportedly lodged a £100m offer last month, but Kane remains a Spurs player.
Pep Guardiola has long admitted he is an admirer of Kane and it is thought Spurs will only allow their prized asset to depart if a huge bid is tabled.
Howey, who played for City during his playing days, feels Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will play hardball as Guardiola looks to welcome Kane to the Etihad Stadium before the transfer window slams shut.
Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, Howey said: “The minimum Spurs will take is £100million, but I think Daniel Levy will be wanting something like £130million. Will Pep Guardiola pay that?
“Kane is 28 and probably has another four years left at the top level. He comes deep and gets involved, but he also gets goals. You would think his price tag is going to be around the £130million mark.”
